Daughter-in-Law of Deceased Congress Leader Attempts Suicide in Wayanad, Blames Party

Padmaja, the daughter-in-law of Congress leader N.M. Vijayan, who recently died by suicide in Wayanad, attempted to end her life by slitting her wrist and has been admitted to the hospital. She reportedly left a note stating, “Killer Congress, here’s another victim for you,” indicating her severe criticism of the party.

The family of the late Wayanad DCC Treasurer N.M. Vijayan had previously come forward with strong accusations against the Congress party. Padmaja specifically stated on Thursday that the party had deceived them. She alleged that Kalpetta MLA T. Siddique and the Congress had failed to provide the promised financial assistance.

According to Padmaja, T. Siddique had assured her that he would cover the hospital bills when her husband was admitted, but he never fulfilled this promise and subsequently did not answer her phone calls. Her criticism was sharp, remarking, “Thieves are walking around in white, and those who trust the Congress party are dying,” highlighting her disillusionment with the party’s conduct.

This incident comes in the wake of another tragedy involving a Congress leader. A suicide note from Jose Nelledath, a Congress leader from Pulpally who also died by suicide, was discovered at his home. In his note, Nelledath reportedly mentioned that the party did not support him and that character assassination on social media had caused him immense distress. These consecutive incidents have put the Congress party in Kerala under intense scrutiny regarding its internal dynamics and support for its members.
