CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam: No One Should Appear Drunk in Public

CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam has stated that no one should appear drunk in public platforms. He was clarifying the party’s stance on a policy document that proposed a relaxation in alcohol prohibition for party workers. Viswam reiterated that prohibition remains the party’s official policy and emphasized that communists must not embarrass themselves by appearing drunk in front of the public.
“If party workers have the habit of drinking, they should consume alcohol at home. They must not create a scene on the streets after drinking, nor should they appear in public in such a state. Such disgraceful behavior cannot be tolerated,” Viswam said.
He also warned against forming associations with unethical practices, stating, “Party workers must not associate with companies funded by corrupt officials and thieves, and certainly not use such funds for drinking.” Viswam called for maintaining the dignity and discipline expected from party members.
