Woman Found Deceased on Karaikal-Ernakulam Express in Ernakulam

Ernakulam: A woman was discovered deceased on an express train that arrived from Karaikal, Tamil Nadu, at the Ernakulam South Railway Station. Preliminary reports indicate that the deceased is a Tamil Nadu native, estimated to be around 40 years old. Further details regarding her identity are not yet available.

The body was found this morning in coach S4 of the 16187 Karaikal-Ernakulam Express. The train, which reached Ernakulam South at 6:45 AM, was scheduled to depart at 7:45 AM as the Ernakulam-Kottayam Passenger service. Passengers boarding for Kottayam initially believed the woman was asleep, but upon further inspection due to growing suspicion, they realized she had passed away.

Following the discovery, police officials were informed and promptly arrived to complete the procedures for removing the body. The incident led to a delay of approximately one hour in the train’s departure. Consequently, other trains traveling towards Thiruvananthapuram also experienced halts at various stations.

Railway police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Efforts are currently underway to gather more information and identify the deceased woman.
