V. S. Achuthanandan’s Sister Aazhikutti Passes Away at 95 in Alappuzha

Alappuzha: Aazhikutti, the only sister of veteran CPI(M) leader and former Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan, passed away on Thursday at the age of 95. She breathed her last at approximately 12:10 AM at her residence, Venthalthara house in Paravoor, Punnapra North Panchayat, Alappuzha.
Aazhikutti had been bedridden for over a year due to age-related ailments. The cremation ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday within the premises of her family home. She was married to the late Bhaskaran. She is survived by her daughter Thankamani, while her other daughter, Susheela, had predeceased her. Her sons-in-law are Parameswaran and Vishwambharan. Aazhikutti was the sole sister to V. S. Achuthanandan and his two late brothers, V. S. Gangadharan and V. S. Purushan.
V. S. Achuthanandan shared a close bond with his sister and made it a point to visit her at the Venthalthara house on special occasions, including Onam. His last recorded visit to Aazhikutti was in 2019, when he brought Onam gifts for her. Her demise marks the passing of the last surviving sibling of the esteemed political leader.
