UDF Worker Dies After Firecrackers Stored in Scooter Explode During Victory Procession in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: A youth died after firecrackers stored in his scooter exploded during an election victory celebration. The deceased has been identified as Sandeep (34), a resident of Vattoli. Preliminary information suggests the accident occurred during a UDF victory procession in Panangad when firecrackers kept in the scooter detonated.
The incident took place near Balussery Kurumboyil Vayalada during the victory procession of UDF candidate Devanand, who won the second ward of Panangad Panchayat. The deceased Sandeep is the nephew of candidate Devanand. Initial findings suggest that after the firecrackers exploded, the scooter’s petrol tank caught fire, leading to the accident. Firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze. Sandeep’s body has been moved to the Kozhikode Medical College mortuary for post-mortem examination. Another person was also injured in the incident and is currently undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, another UDF worker died in Malappuram after firecrackers exploded during an election victory celebration, causing fire to spread to his body. The incident occurred in Cherukavu, Kondotty, Malappuram. The deceased has been identified as Irshad (27), a resident of Cherukavu.
This accident happened during the victory celebration in Periyambalam, Ninth Ward. Fire spread from firecrackers stored in a scooter to Irshad’s body, who was standing near the vehicle.
