Two Policemen Suspended in Thiruvananthapuram for Drug Trafficking

Two police officers from the Thiruvananthapuram Rural Control Room have been suspended following an investigation by the Narcotic Cell which revealed their direct involvement in drug trafficking. The suspended officers have been identified as Abhinjith and Rahul.

The suspension comes after the Narcotic Cell’s extensive probe into drug syndicates uncovered the direct participation of these two Civil Police Officers (CPOs). The Thiruvananthapuram Rural Superintendent of Police has ordered a more detailed investigation into the matter, acting on the report submitted by the Narcotic Cell Deputy Superintendent of Police.

The Narcotic Cell DySP’s findings unequivocally indicate that both Abhinjith and Rahul were directly engaged in the sale of illicit drugs. This critical discovery was made during widespread inspections conducted by the Narcotic Cell across Thiruvananthapuram, part of a broader initiative aimed at curbing drug sales and usage in the region. The officers were reportedly identified and implicated during an operation specifically targeting drug traffickers.

Authorities are also actively investigating whether the suspended officers exploited their access to sensitive information within the control room. It is suspected that they might have leaked crucial details, obtained through wireless communications regarding Narcotic Cell operations and findings, to drug mafias, thereby potentially compromising anti-drug enforcement efforts. This aspect of the investigation aims to determine the extent of their collusion with criminal elements.
