Tourist Bus Carrying School Students Overturns in Idukki; 36 Injured

Idukki: A tourist bus carrying school students overturned, resulting in injuries to 36 individuals. The incident took place at Nellappara in Idukki district, a location bordering Kottayam district on the Pala-Thodupuzha route. The bus was transporting students from Thoannakkal G.H.S.S. in Thiruvananthapuram.

Preliminary reports indicate that none of the injuries sustained are critical, and all students are confirmed to be safe. The accident occurred at the Churappatta bend, situated near Nellappara on the Pala-Thodupuzha road. This particular bus was one of three vehicles traveling as part of a school excursion group.

Approximately 45 students and teachers were onboard the bus when it overturned. The injured students and teachers have since been transported to a hospital in Pala for medical attention.

The cause of the accident is believed to be a loss of control by the driver while navigating a sharp bend. The school group was on its return journey from a recreational trip to Kodaikanal when the unfortunate mishap occurred.
