Tiger Found Dead in Wayanad’s Panchrakolly: Investigation Underway

A tiger was found dead in Wayanad’s Panchrakolly forest area, near Pilakkavu. The special task force discovered the carcass during an operation. The body was transported to the base camp for further investigation. The forest department suspects the deceased tiger to be the man-eater responsible for recent attacks. According to the Forest Minister’s office, the tiger was found dead around 2:30 AM.

The tiger’s body showed injuries, and it is yet to be determined if it died due to gunshots fired by the task force. A postmortem will confirm the exact cause of death. Yesterday, the tiger attacked Jayasurya, a member of the RRT team, prompting others in the group to fire shots. However, they believed the shots did not hit the tiger. The tiger had earlier killed Panchrakolly resident Radha in a brutal attack.

A special operation was launched to capture the tiger, during which a 48-hour curfew was imposed in the region. Restrictions were enforced in areas like Panchrakolly, Melechirakkara, Pilakkavu, and Maniyankunnu. Residents were instructed to stay indoors, and all shops were closed. Educational institutions in the affected areas were also declared closed as part of the precautionary measures.
