Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.V. Rajesh Explains Absence from PM Modi’s Airport Reception

Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.V. Rajesh will not be present at the airport to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the city. Mayor Rajesh’s name was notably absent from the official list of dignitaries designated to welcome the Prime Minister. The 22-member list, which has been released, includes prominent figures such as Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, senior military and police officials, and leaders from the NDA-BJP alliance.

Traditionally, according to established protocol, the Mayor’s presence is expected at receptions for Very Important Persons (VIPs). However, V.V. Rajesh clarified that his exclusion from the airport reception was a measure taken as part of the overall security arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit.

Furthermore, the Mayor’s office provided additional clarification, stating that Mayor Rajesh’s absence from the airport reception ceremony is due to his scheduled participation on stage for two other significant events that Prime Minister Modi will attend in Thiruvananthapuram. This explanation aims to address any concerns regarding a potential deviation from standard protocol.
