Thiruvananthapuram: Husband’s Alleged Preference for Male Companions Linked to Mother-Daughter Suicide

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a tragic case involving the suicide of a mother and daughter in Kamaleswaram, police investigations have unveiled that Unnikrishnan, the deceased woman’s husband, allegedly harbored a preference for male companionship. Authorities revealed that Unnikrishnan was an active member of several male-oriented social groups, a crucial detail uncovered during the examination of his mobile phone. The police further noted that Unnikrishnan expressed a clear inclination for travelling and spending time with other men, with digital evidence supporting these findings.
The deceased, Greema, and her daughter were found to have taken their own lives, leaving behind a note that attributed the drastic step to Unnikrishnan’s neglect. According to family members, Unnikrishnan had visited Greema’s home only once over a period of six years, and the couple had lived together for a mere 54 days in total.
Relatives have further alleged that Unnikrishnan deliberately sought to distance himself from his marital life with Greema, driven by his desire to live with male friends. They claim he created a facade, convincing family members that he needed to maintain distance to focus on his PhD studies and examinations. During this period, he was reportedly travelling to various locations, actively seeking male companions.
Greema, on her part, had earnestly wished to reside abroad with her husband and had promptly secured her passport following their engagement in preparation for this future. Adding to the family’s distress, relatives recounted that Unnikrishnan failed to even make a phone call upon learning of his father-in-law’s death, highlighting his perceived emotional detachment from his wife’s family.
