Thief Returns Stolen Scooter to Kollam Home; Owners Decline Complaint

KOLLAM: In an unusual incident, a scooter stolen in broad daylight from a house in Kollam was mysteriously returned by the thief, leading the owners to withdraw their complaint. Police confirmed that no case has been registered following the recovery of the vehicle.
The incident took place around 11 AM the other day at a residence near Chakkalamukku on the Karunagappally-Kallukadavu Road. The scooter had been parked in the courtyard, which is close to the road, with its keys still in the ignition.
CCTV footage captured the thief entering the premises, looking around several times, and then making off with the scooter. The individual was seen wearing a cap and a mask, presumably to conceal their identity. There are also reports suggesting that the same individual was involved in a cash theft from a fish stall near the High School Junction.
The house owners had promptly filed a complaint with the local police, providing the CCTV footage as evidence. However, before the police could proceed with their investigation, the thief discreetly brought the scooter back and left it in front of the house. Given the safe return of their vehicle, the owners decided against pursuing the theft complaint, opting not to register a formal case.
