Sunny Joseph Alleges Orchestrated Complaint Against Rahul Mamkootathil, Cites “Legal Brain”

Kozhikode: KPCC President Sunny Joseph has alleged that the second complaint filed against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, received by the KPCC, was orchestrated. Joseph questioned the timing of the complaint reaching the media simultaneously with him, suggesting a “legal brain” was behind the move. He stated that the law should take its own course.

Joseph also expressed the United Democratic Front’s (UDF) strong confidence in the upcoming local body elections, predicting a significant public mandate against the government’s perceived anti-people policies.

He highlighted the Sabarimala gold heist issue as a major topic of discussion among the public during these local elections. Joseph criticized the ruling party for allegedly protecting those accused in the scam. He pointed out that despite the High Court’s directives and the arrest and imprisonment of CPI(M) leaders in connection with the case, the party has not taken even minor disciplinary action against them. He further alleged that the government and the party are jointly providing a protective shield to these individuals.

Joseph noted that weeks have passed since the High Court made clear remarks about the involvement of more accused and higher-ranking officials, yet these individuals have not been brought to justice. He also lamented the failure to recover crores of rupees worth of gold that was lost. He stated that there is widespread public resentment over this issue.

According to Joseph, the Kerala High Court has indicated that more high-ranking officials are involved. He mentioned media reports suggesting that a former minister was named in the statement of Padmakumar, who is currently in jail, but this individual has not yet been questioned. Joseph concluded by stating that the CPI(M) is protecting even those currently accused due to a great fear that if action is taken against party leaders involved, they might reveal more information, leading to the apprehension of additional leaders.
