Strict Action Promised in Walayar Mob Lynching Case, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Assures Justice

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has assured that justice will be delivered to the family of Ram Narayan Bakel, who tragically died following a mob lynching in Walayar, Palakkad. The Chief Minister also pledged strict action against all those responsible for the heinous act.

Addressing the issue, Chief Minister Vijayan stated that a special team, under the leadership of the Palakkad Superintendent of Police, is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. He confirmed that instructions have been issued to meticulously examine the case details and initiate all necessary legal proceedings against the accused. The Chief Minister emphasized that such brutal acts, which severely tarnish the reputation of a civilized society like Kerala, are utterly unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

In a statement released via a Facebook post, Chief Minister Vijayan further promised appropriate compensation for Ram Narayan’s grieving family. He urged the public to remain vigilant and collectively work towards preventing the recurrence of such tragic incidents in the future.

Police have already made significant progress in the investigation, arresting five individuals in connection with the mob lynching. The victim, Ram Narayan Bakel, a 31-year-old native of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, succumbed to the brutal assault inflicted by local residents. Authorities initially took ten people into custody, from which five formal arrests have been recorded.

The incident took place last Wednesday evening, around 6 PM. According to police reports, Ram Narayan was reportedly in an intoxicated state when locals suspected him of being a thief and proceeded to assault him. However, investigators confirmed that no stolen items were found in his possession. Walayar Inspector N.S. Rajeev stated that the victim’s body bore numerous injury marks, indicative of a severe beating.
