Shimjitha Mustafa’s Brother Files Police Complaint Alleging Harassment on Bus

In a new development surrounding the suicide of Deepak from Govindapuram, Kozhikode, following the circulation of a video alleging his misbehavior on a bus, the remanded accused, Shimjitha Mustafa, has filed a police complaint through her brother, alleging harassment on the bus. The complaint, submitted via email by Shimjitha’s brother Siyad, states that a person harassed her during a bus journey from the railway station to Payyanur stand and that she experienced sexual assault on the bus. Police confirmed receiving the complaint yesterday, Wednesday, at 5:01 PM. Shimjitha had reportedly prepared the complaint prior to her arrest.
The police remand report, however, completely refutes Shimjitha’s claims of sexual assault on the bus. According to the police, an examination of CCTV footage clearly indicates that nothing unusual transpired on the bus. The report further notes that both individuals disembarked from the bus in a normal manner. Police investigations have revealed that Shimjitha filmed approximately seven videos involving Deepak on her mobile phone and subsequently shared them on various social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.
Bus employees have also provided statements corroborating that there was no harassment or inappropriate behavior from Deepak’s side. The police report underscores that granting bail to the accused, who has made unsubstantiated allegations, would send a detrimental message to society, particularly in an era where the public places significant trust and attention on social media content.
