Samastha Leader Bahauddeen Nadwi Stands By ‘Wife in Charge’ Remark on Ministers and MLAs

Malappuram: Samastha leader Bahauddeen Mohammed Nadwi affirmed his controversial statement regarding ministers and MLAs having illicit relationships. Nadwi stated that his remarks were factual and were not solely aimed at ministers. He explained that the intention was to awaken society, and he sharply criticized Omar Faizi Mukkam. There was also criticism directed at Jifri Thangal.

Bahauddeen Mohammed Nadwi, a member of the Samastha Central Mushawara, reiterated his stance that ministers and MLAs in Kerala have ‘wife-in-charge’ relationships in addition to their legal wives, a statement he made while defending polygamy. He questioned whether his statements were not factual and if such situations did not currently exist. Nadwi added that the expression was intended to enlighten society.

Nadwi launched severe criticism against Omar Faizi Mukkam, stating that it was Omar Faizi, who had insulted Shiva Parvati, who was speaking against him. Bahauddeen Nadwi alleged that Omar Faizi spoke poorly about him in the Mushawara and spread the impression that the Mushawara had approved it. He further stated that attempts were being made to isolate him, but he had no fear.

Nadwi clarified that he had cited the example of E.M.S. Namboodiripad and asserted that historical truth would prevail even if the entire world protested. Bahauddeen Nadwi’s statement that many ministers, MPs, and MLAs have ‘in-charge wives’ besides their legal spouses had sparked controversy. Samastha President Jifri Thangal had also come out against Nadwi’s statement.
