Reorganisation Dispute: Kerala Congress Leaders Urgently Summoned to Delhi by High Command

NEW DELHI: The Congress high command has urgently summoned state Congress leaders to Delhi. KPCC President Sunny Joseph and working presidents have already arrived in Delhi. Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan and Ramesh Chennithala are expected to arrive today. The primary agenda for the discussions is to resolve the ongoing disputes related to the party’s reorganisation in Kerala.

The crucial discussions are scheduled to commence at 11 AM at the Congress headquarters in Delhi. The meeting will be presided over by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. This urgent intervention by the high command is aimed at finding a resolution to the internal conflicts, particularly in light of the upcoming local body elections in Kerala.

A meeting of office-bearers, which was slated for the previous day, had to be postponed after Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan firmly insisted on the immediate announcement of the KPCC secretaries’ list. This postponement served as the backdrop for the high command’s swift move to facilitate a conciliatory dialogue.

Key decisions regarding the KPCC secretaries are also anticipated today, including an agreement on the total number of secretaries. Furthermore, detailed discussions will be held concerning the names proposed by prominent leaders for these secretary positions. The high command is expected to issue a stern warning, emphasizing the necessity of resolving all state-level disputes before the local body elections. The agenda will also include a discussion on the comprehensive revision of the voter list.
