Rapper Vedan Denies Using Synthetic Drugs Amidst Arrest

Kochi: Rapper and singer Vedan, known as Hirandas Murali, has stated that he has never used synthetic drugs. Speaking to the media while being taken for a medical examination, Vedan acknowledged that it is public knowledge that he smokes and drinks. He also mentioned that he is unsure whether the pendant he possesses is an actual tiger claw.

The Forest Department has registered a non-bailable case against Vedan for possessing a tiger claw. In his statement, Vedan claimed that a fan from Tamil Nadu gifted him the pendant. Earlier reports had suggested that Vedan told the investigating team that he received it from Thailand.

On Monday, the Hill Palace police conducted a raid on the flat where Vedan and his friends were staying, recovering six grams of cannabis and ₹9.5 lakh in cash. While they secured bail in this drug case, Vedan’s troubles compounded when the Forest and Wildlife Department registered a case and arrested him late at night after confirming that the locket in his necklace was indeed a tiger claw.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Vedan and his group were apprehended while allegedly smoking cannabis. The FIR states that when the police arrived, the room was filled with smoke and a strong odor. Police reported that all nine individuals were gathered around a table and were consuming cannabis. Charges related to drug use and conspiracy have been filed against them in the FIR.
