Rajeev Chandrasekhar Alleges ‘Criminals in Media’ Creating Controversies to Obscure Messi Fraud

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has alleged that certain individuals he terms “criminals” have infiltrated the media sector, purposefully generating controversies to divert attention from the “Messi fraud” related to the proposed visit of the Argentina team and Lionel Messi to Kerala. Chandrasekhar stated his resolve to confront these elements.

Chandrasekhar dismissed the accusations leveled against him as baseless, asserting that BPL company has already issued a clear statement on the matter. He further stated that he has been facing such allegations for a long time but that those spreading falsehoods will not escape justice. He warned that attempts to target him with misinformation would fail, and legal action would be pursued against those propagating lies. Referring to previous alleged irregularities, he cited the “Sabarimala, Exalogic, and Messi frauds” as examples. “Our aim is the political purification of Kerala. In this process, if there are corrupt media brokers, we are prepared to purify them as well,” Chandrasekhar declared.

He further alleged that the current controversy surrounding the PM Shri scheme is a deliberate attempt to shift public focus away from the Sabarimala gold scam. Chandrasekhar clarified that a proper reading of the PM Shri project document would reveal its true intent. He noted that the scheme, designed to transform schools into centers of excellence, was delayed for five years, and now, after its approval, both CPI(M) and CPI are engaged in a blame game. He reiterated the demand for Minister V.N. Vasavan’s resignation in connection with the Sabarimala gold heist and announced the continuation of protests demanding the dissolution of the Devaswom Board.

Chandrasekhar also criticized efforts to claim credit for poverty eradication, stating that central government schemes are merely being renamed and implemented in Kerala. He pointed out that, according to World Bank statistics, 17 Indians have emerged from extreme poverty in the last ten years, but only 2.72 lakh people in Kerala have done so. He emphasized that Kerala’s performance is significantly lower compared to many other states and attributed 99 percent of the poverty eradication success to various initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
