Priest Booked Under POCSO for Alleged Sexual Assault of School Student in Kasaragod
Kasaragod: Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against a priest following a complaint of alleged sexual assault against a school student. Father Paul Thattuparambil has been booked by the Chittarikkal police.
The complaint alleges that Paul Thattuparambil sexually abused a 16-year-old boy between May 15, 2024, and August 13, 2024. The incident came to light when the student revealed the abuse during a counseling session at his school.
Following the revelation, the school authorities promptly informed Childline. Childline workers then accompanied the child to the Chittarikkal Police Station and filed a formal complaint. Upon the registration of the case and the commencement of the police investigation, the accused priest went into hiding. Police stated that the investigation has been intensified.
