Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil Escapes to Tamil Nadu Amidst Rape Allegations

Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil remains in hiding following serious allegations of rape and forced abortion. Reports indicate that Mamkootathil has fled to Tamil Nadu, specifically via the Kozhinjampara route.
Police have registered cases against Mamkootathil based on a complaint filed by a woman, charging him with rape, criminal intimidation, and fraud. Additionally, a case has been filed for allegedly recording private moments for the purpose of blackmail.
According to investigations, Mamkootathil abandoned his official vehicle in Palakkad and utilized a friend’s car to reach the Tamil Nadu border. A special investigation team (SIT) suggests he managed to cross into Tamil Nadu through an unsupervised route before arriving at Nadupuni. It is believed that Mamkootathil is currently in hiding in an undisclosed location near the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border. Further details suggest he entered Tamil Nadu in a Polo car belonging to a young Malayalam film actress. The police have contacted the actress, who reportedly stated that the car was lent out of friendship and that she has no other involvement in the incident.
The car in question had been in Palakkad since the previous Wednesday. The investigative team gleaned crucial information after questioning Rahul Mamkootathil’s personal staff and driver, confirming prior intelligence regarding the vehicle used for his escape. The SIT also suspects that Jobby Joseph, who is the second accused in the case and a close friend of Rahul, is accompanying him.
Mamkootathil has submitted a pre-arrest bail application to the Thiruvananthapuram Principal Sessions Court, which is scheduled for hearing today. Concurrently, a complaint from a 21-year-old woman from Bengaluru has also come to light. This woman had previously sent an email to the Congress central leadership, alleging rape by Mamkootathil. However, her complaint reportedly did not receive adequate attention at the time. The MLA had also allegedly promised marriage to this woman. Following the recent media coverage, the Congress leadership has since forwarded the woman’s complaint to the police.
