Mullappally Ramachandran Comments on Kuttiady Congress Event Chaos, Cautions Shafi Parambil

Kozhikode: Senior Congress leader Mullappally Ramachandran has weighed in on the tumultuous events that unfolded on stage during the party’s ‘Puthuyuga Yatra’ in Kuttiady, Kozhikode. The event garnered significant media attention after a notable push-and-shove incident involving party workers and leaders.

Addressing the situation, Mullappally Ramachandran stated that MP Shafi Parambil exhibited a momentary lack of discretion. He suggested that Parambil’s agitation stemmed from his disappointment at not being invited to speak at the public gathering. “Shafi Parambil should not have been provoked,” Mullappally remarked. “He felt upset about not being invited to speak, and that might have been the reason for his agitation. However, he quickly calmed down.”

Mullappally also pointed out that Shafi seemed to have overlooked the presence of media personnel at the event. “There was a need for more control on the stage, and I view this as a lapse. The pushing and shoving should have been avoided,” he added, clarifying that he himself did not fall but was merely sitting on a sofa on the stage. He dismissed rumors about his fall as inappropriate.

Kuttiady falls within Shafi Parambil’s constituency, and Mullappally noted Parambil’s keen desire to address the large crowd that had gathered. “Shafi was seated to my right and expressed his wish to speak, saying, ‘Such a large crowd has gathered here, and 80 percent of them would have voted for us. I wish to address them,'” Mullappally recounted.

According to Mullappally, even after the second speaker concluded, Shafi was not called to the podium, making his discomfort visibly apparent. Subsequently, the Leader of the Opposition was invited to speak. Mullappally urged that the incident should be interpreted as a natural, momentary irritation for an individual and not be given any other unnecessary interpretations. He confirmed having spoken to Shafi about the slight lapse in judgment, describing it as a fleeting error and reiterating his belief that Shafi is a promising and capable leader.
