Mother and Son Found Dead by Suicide in Kollam

A mother and her son were found dead by suicide at their home in Parippally Ooninnmoodu, Kollam. The deceased have been identified as Layana (43) and her son Pranav (20), a polytechnic student. The tragic incident came to light on Friday night.

Layana’s close relative went to their house after repeated attempts to contact her by phone went unanswered. Upon arrival, the relative found the gate and house locked. With the assistance of neighbors, a search was conducted, leading to the discovery of Layana and Pranav hanging in two different rooms of the house.

Layana was found hanging from a fan in her bedroom, while her son Pranav was discovered hanging from a window in another bedroom. The two were reportedly living alone in the house, as another son is currently pursuing studies in Ernakulam.

Upon receiving the distressing news, Layana’s husband, Premji, returned from abroad. The bodies were cremated following a post-mortem examination. The Parippally police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
