Moideen Retracts Statement: Pension Donation to CPM Was Voluntary, Driven by Party Loyalty

Kozhikode: Moideen, a resident of Balussery, has made a significant U-turn, retracting his previous statement that he was instructed by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) to donate his pension money to CPM State Secretary M.V. Govindan. The donation occurred during the Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) ‘Vikasana Munneta Jatha’ (Development Progress March) in Balussery. A new video has emerged featuring Moideen, where he now asserts that the pension money was handed over of his own free will and out of deep loyalty to the party, describing it as a heartfelt contribution.
Previously, in an initial video that surfaced, Moideen had claimed that party workers had specifically asked him to present the money on stage to M.V. Govindan during the LDF regional jatha. He stated that the district secretary had made this request and assured him that the money would be returned later, which, according to him, it was. At that time, Moideen had explicitly said that the donation was not made willingly but was an act performed to gain access to the stage. This initial video was reportedly captured by a local resident while Moideen was at a bus stop.
The incident itself, involving M.V. Govindan’s LDF regional jatha in Balussery, gained widespread attention after a video of Moideen giving the pension money to Govindan went viral. This particular video was extensively circulated across various Left-leaning social media platforms. In that viral footage, Moideen was heard addressing M.V. Govindan, stating, “This is pension money. If the United Democratic Front (UDF) comes to power next time, you won’t receive this. The LDF must return to power.” However, the video also distinctly showed M.V. Govindan accepting the money but then promptly returning it to Moideen’s pocket, saying, “Consider it received.”
The recent change in Moideen’s narrative, now emphasizing his personal volition and unwavering party allegiance behind the donation, adds another layer to the ongoing political discourse surrounding the LDF’s public engagements and financial contributions. The sequence of events and Moideen’s shifting explanations continue to spark debate and discussion within political circles and among the public.
