MLA Daleema Jojo Clarifies Participation in Charity Event, Denies Association with Divisive Groups

Alappuzha: CPI(M) MLA Daleema Jojo has issued a clarification regarding her participation in an event, following reports linking her to Jamaat-e-Islami. In a detailed Facebook post, the MLA stated that her involvement was solely for the flag-off ceremony of an ambulance. The ambulance is intended for home care services for bedridden patients of Kanivu, a palliative organization operating from Arookutty. The event took place on January 11th in her constituency.

MLA Jojo emphasized that she views the encouragement of palliative and charitable organizations within her constituency, and participation in their events, as a fundamental responsibility of a public representative. She reiterated her commitment to attending invited programs, especially those focused on charity and palliative care activities, demonstrating a keen interest in such welfare initiatives.

Addressing the controversy directly, Jojo clarified, “The invitation and my participation here were not for events organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind or its subsidiary organizations. It is my declared stand and that of my party, the CPI(M), not to participate in platforms of extremist groups such as Sangh Parivar, Political Islam, or KASA.” She further asserted her firm stance, stating, “There will be no compromise with any movement that creates hatred among people.”

Concluding her Facebook post, MLA Daleema Jojo reaffirmed her core principles: “Equality and brotherhood are my ideals, and I will continue to uphold them as long as I live, speak for their propagation, engage in public service, and even sing songs for their cause.”
