Manjummel Boys’ Subhash Chandran to Contest Local Body Elections for UDF

Kochi: No one who has watched the superhit film ‘Manjummel Boys’ is likely to forget Subhash, the character in it. After the film’s release, the real-life Manjummel Boys also gained significant public attention. Subhash Chandran, one of the original Manjummel Boys, is preparing to contest the local body elections this time.
Subhash Chandran will seek the mandate as the UDF candidate from Madappattu, the 27th ward of the Eloor Municipality. In September 2006, Subhash was part of a ten-member group that went on a trip from Manjummel to Kodaikanal. During this trip, Subhash tragically fell into a gorge approximately 600 feet deep at Guna Point, getting suspended at a depth of 87 feet. The chances of survival after falling into the Guna Point gorge are typically very low.
However, Subhash’s friends bravely rescued his life through an extraordinary effort. With the help of his friends, Velassery Siju David, affectionately known as Kuttettan, descended into the treacherous gorge and successfully brought Subhash out. The gripping story of their perilous journey and remarkable survival was dramatically depicted in the 2024 film ‘Manjummel Boys’, where Subhash’s character was portrayed by Sreenath Bhasi, and Kuttettan’s by Soubin Shahir.
Now, Subhash, who unbelievably reclaimed his life from the depths of the gorge, is confident of victory in the upcoming electoral battle for a seat in the Eloor Municipality.
