Mandala Pooja at Sabarimala Today; Temple to Reopen on December 30 for Makaravilakku Festival

Pathanamthitta: The sacred Mandala Pooja will be conducted at the Sabarimala Ayyappan Temple today. The special ceremony, during which the idol of Lord Ayyappa will be adorned with the revered golden attire (Thanka Angi), is scheduled to take place between 10:10 AM and 11:30 AM. In light of the significant rituals, specific restrictions have been implemented for pilgrims at Sannidhanam to ensure smooth proceedings and manage the devout crowd.
Today marks the culmination of the 41-day Mandala pilgrimage season. The temple will close at 11 PM after the recitation of the Harivarasanam, bringing an end to this year’s spiritual journey for countless devotees.
Following the conclusion of the Mandala season, the temple premises will reopen on December 30 at 5 PM. This reopening is in preparation for the much-anticipated Makaravilakku festival, a major annual event that draws immense crowds. The auspicious Makaravilakku darshan is slated for January 14, offering devotees a chance to witness the divine light.
