Man Hires Sorcerer After Wife Takes Over Property; Duo Caught After Targeting Wrong House in Kozhikode

A husband and a sorcerer faced consequences after the former hired the latter to resolve family issues. The husband, a native of Chudalmuku, resorted to hiring a ‘sorcerer’ after his wife transferred their house and property, earned through his hard work abroad, into her name and filed a domestic violence complaint to prevent him from entering the house. He entrusted Sunil, a sorcerer from Engapuzha Karikulam, to alleviate his troubles.

However, the sorcerer made a grave mistake while performing the ritual. Instead of targeting the intended house, he mistakenly entered an adjacent house belonging to another non-resident Indian (NRI) to deposit the ‘black magic items.’ The incident occurred around 3 PM on Wednesday. Believing the house to be empty, the sorcerer opened the gate, entered the premises, sprinkled magical powders and other items at the base of a coconut tree in the courtyard, and quickly left the scene.

Unbeknownst to the sorcerer, the homemaker and her daughter inside the house were watching his actions live on their CCTV monitor. They noticed a man in a blue shirt and mundu behaving unusually in their front yard after the camera’s sensor detected sound. The two immediately pursued him on a scooter and apprehended the sorcerer at the Chungam bus stand. The situation escalated as locals also gathered.

Upon interrogation by the Thamaraserry police, who arrived at the scene, the full story unfolded. The sorcerer confessed to the police that he had mistaken the house. Subsequently, the husband who had commissioned the ritual was also summoned to the police station. After hearing about the plight of the cheated expatriate and the sorcerer’s blunder, the police issued a warning to both individuals and released them.
