Malappuram District Panchayat Member T.P. Haris Arrested at Mumbai Airport in Fraud Case

Accused of Swindling INR 3.57 Crore by Promising Profits in Panchayat Schemes

T.P. Haris, a Muslim League member of the Malappuram District Panchayat, was arrested at Mumbai Airport in connection with a fraud case where he allegedly swindled money by promising profits from various District Panchayat schemes. Haris, who arrived at Mumbai Airport from the UAE yesterday morning at 9 AM, was intercepted by immigration authorities at the counter and handed over to Mumbai Police.

Malappuram Police had registered a case against Haris a few days ago, following a complaint from a native of Ramapuram, Malappuram, who accused him of defrauding INR 3.57 crore. Amidst the controversy, Haris had fled abroad, and a lookout notice was recently issued against him. This notice proved instrumental in his apprehension at Mumbai Airport.

After his arrest was formally recorded in Mumbai, Haris will be produced before a local court there before being brought to Kerala for further legal proceedings.
