Love Blooms Anew : Elderly Couple Marries from Government Old Age Home in Thrissur
Vijayaraghavan (79) and Sulochana (75) Tie the Knot, Begin New Chapter Together

In a heartwarming ceremony, Vijayaraghavan (79) and Sulochana (75) embarked on a new journey together, marrying from the government-run Ramavarmapuram Old Age Home in Thrissur. Their union, solemnized under the Special Marriage Act, was witnessed by Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice Dr. R. Bindu and Mayor M.K. Varghese.
Vijayaraghavan, a native of Peramangalam, arrived at the Thrissur Government Old Age Home in 2019, followed by Sulochana, from Irinjalakuda, in 2024. Their wish to live together was conveyed to the Superintendent of the Social Justice Department. Under the leadership of the Social Justice Department, and with preparations made by the Minister for Social Justice, the Director, department officials, and the Old Age Home Management Committee, their marriage was successfully arranged under the Special Marriage Act.
Minister for Social Justice Dr. R. Bindu expressed her wishes for a joyous and loving marital life for the couple in the twilight of their years, sharing sweets with the newlyweds. Mayor M.K. Varghese also extended his greetings to the couple.
The joyous occasion was also attended by Corporation Welfare Standing Committee Chairperson Shyamala Muraleedharan, District Social Justice Officer K.R. Pradeepan, local councilors, Old Age Home Superintendent Radhika, and fellow residents, all sharing in the couple’s happiness.
