LDF Put Sabarimala Gold Theft Accused Behind Bars, Not in Temple,’ Says K.K. Shailaja, Alleges Congress Links

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM Central Committee member K.K. Shailaja stated that while the Left Democratic Front (LDF) was not responsible for Unnikrishnan Potty’s entry into Sabarimala, it was the LDF that put him behind bars. She alleged that the accused were seen in photographs with prominent Congress leaders. K.K. Shailaja further claimed that the opposition created a ruckus without submitting a notice for an adjournment motion, fearing that these connections would be brought to light if a discussion ensued.
K.K. Shailaja questioned why the opposition disrupted the assembly. ‘In reality, this government has permitted discussions on ten to seventeen adjournment motions. We do not shy away from issues. This is a government that handles matters in a completely democratic manner, desiring to inform the public about solutions when issues affecting the people of this state come up for discussion in the Legislative Assembly. They could have brought an adjournment motion today. The real issue of the Sabarimala gold theft could have been discussed within the Kerala Legislative Assembly. They know that if an adjournment motion is brought, it will be allowed for discussion. That is why they backed down,’ Shailaja stated.
K.K. Shailaja emphasized that the LDF was responsible for arresting Potty. She questioned, ‘Did the LDF bring Potty into Sabarimala? No, right? Photographs have emerged showing the person who stole the gold and the person who bought it standing with prominent Congress leaders. Is it not a matter of concern that they had the opportunity to visit a place like Number Ten Janpath together, a place where ordinary people are not allowed entry and where one would have to wait months or even a year for an appointment? The UDF knows very well that all this would be subject to discussion. We have nothing to hide, be it on the issue of Sabarimala or any other matter. Let it come up for discussion in the Legislative Assembly. The Left Democratic Front has stated that if even an ounce of Lord Ayyappan’s gold has been lost there, it will be recovered,’ K.K. Shailaja affirmed.
