Kerala Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Expected for Five Days, Yellow Alert Issued for Multiple Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has updated its rain forecast for Kerala, predicting strong rainfall for the next five days. A Yellow Alert has been declared for five districts today in anticipation of the rain.
The districts under Yellow Alert today, October 9, 2025, are Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Malappuram, Wayanad, and Kannur. A Yellow Alert indicates the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall, defined as precipitation between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period.
The IMD also stated that over the next three hours, isolated moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, potentially reaching speeds of up to 40 kmph, is likely in the Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts of Kerala.
Further Yellow Alerts have been issued for the following days:
October 10, 2025: Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur
October 11 & 12, 2025: Palakkad, Malappuram
October 13, 2025: Idukki, Thrissur
