Kerala on Alert: Heavy Rains Expected for Next Five Days, Yellow Alert for 8 Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the likelihood of rain across Kerala for the next five days. This prediction comes as a cyclonic circulation persists over Gangetic West Bengal and a low-pressure trough extends from the Maharashtra coast to the Karnataka coast.

The IMD’s warning also indicates that winds are likely to strengthen over Kerala from July 4 to 7, reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.

In anticipation of heavy rainfall, a Yellow Alert has been declared for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted, which implies precipitation ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours.

The Central Meteorological Department has stated that there are no restrictions on fishing along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts today. However, fishermen should not venture to the Karnataka coast from tomorrow (July 6) until Tuesday (July 8).
