Kerala Braces for Extremely Heavy Rain with Thunderstorms; Deep Depression Forms, Fishing Ban Imposed

Thiruvananthapuram: The Meteorological Department has warned that extremely heavy rain with thunderstorms will continue in Kerala due to a deep depression. Yellow alerts have been declared in various districts as part of the rain probability forecast for the next 5 days. Today, yellow alerts have been declared in 3 districts: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta. The possibility of heavy rain has been predicted. Heavy rain means rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the cyclonic circulation persisting near the Kanyakumari coast has intensified into a low-pressure area. It is likely to strengthen further into a deep depression within the next 48 hours. Therefore, the Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to venture into these areas under any circumstances. Kerala is likely to experience light to moderate rain for the next 5 days, with isolated strong rainfall possible on November 25-26.
