KCBC Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council Elects New Leadership

Kochi: The Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) has announced its new leadership following a significant election. Archbishop Varghese Chakkalakal, who serves as the Metropolitan of the Kozhikode Diocese and President of the Kerala Regional Latin Catholic Church, has been elected as the new President of the KCBC.
The elections, held during a conference at the KCBC headquarters located at Palarivattom POC in Kochi, also saw the appointment of Bishop Samuel Mar Irenios, Metropolitan of the Pathanamthitta Malankara Diocese, as the new Vice President. Archbishop Thomas Tharayil, Metropolitan of the Changanassery Archdiocese, was elected to the position of Secretary General.
During the general meeting, a vote of gratitude was extended to the outgoing leadership. Cardinal Baselios Cleemis Bava, who led the Kerala Catholic Church as President for three years, along with Vice President Bishop Mar Paul Kannookadan and Secretary General Bishop Dr. Alex Vadakkumthala, were formally thanked for their dedicated service.
