K J Shine Teacher Alleges Opposition Leader’s Role in Defamation Campaign

Kochi: CPM leader K J Shine Teacher has alleged that the Congress party is conducting a defamation campaign against her to divert attention from the Rahul Mankootathil controversy. Speaking to the media alongside her husband, Dineus, she asserted that such allegations would not arise without the knowledge of the Opposition Leader, adding that this situation reveals the helplessness of the Congress.
Shine revealed that a local Congress leader had warned her a few days prior during a public event that “a bomb is coming.” Following this warning, a poster appeared, though it did not explicitly mention her name, leading her to initially withhold a complaint. However, after experiencing severe cyber-attacks, she lodged formal complaints with the police, the Director General of Police (DGP), the Chief Minister, and the State Women’s Commission. Shine affirmed that no one involved in the defamation campaign would be spared, and notably, no Congress leader had contacted her since the allegations surfaced.
The widespread propagation of these allegations, according to Shine, occurred through the Facebook page of a person named Gopalakrishnan, identified as a cultural activist managing Congress’s social media. K J Shine reiterated her firm belief that these actions could not have transpired without the full knowledge of Opposition Leader V D Satheesan, further elaborating on the prior warning she received from a local Congress leader about the impending defamation campaign.
Recounting the specific warning, Shine stated, “Two or three days ago, a local Congress leader told me, ‘Teacher, a bomb is coming. Be courageous, and don’t be upset no matter what you hear.’ They also informed me that something involving me and an MLA was coming. Only after that did this campaign begin. Initially, an unrecognizable poster appeared. My husband asked me to file a complaint, but since there was no name or specific information, I didn’t file one then.”
Shine also commented on the motivations behind such acts, stating that “there are some people who derive pleasure from spreading misogynistic and sexually explicit defamation about women.” She mentioned that she had been preoccupied for the past few days due to her daughter-in-law’s delivery, and it was amidst this personal commitment that campaigns using her picture began to circulate. Shine confirmed that the police had sought information regarding the complaint she filed.
She unequivocally stated, “It is certain that this campaign originated from right-wing politics. A complaint has been filed, and the SP’s office called yesterday and collected information. We will not stay silent. Women must continue to enter public life. It must be made clear that women are not those who run back into their homes if they hear something. There’s an age affected by mental perversion. Some people, with no one to guide them, come on YouTube channels and say all sorts of things. Such individuals will not be spared.”
