High Court Rejects Demand to Open Sabarimala Forest Path Earlier

The High Court has rejected the demand to open the Sabarimala forest path earlier than scheduled. The High Court clarified that the path cannot be opened on November 15 for devotees who have booked darshan for November 17.

The court emphasized that travel through the protected forest area can only be permitted after carefully considering factors such as its status as a protected forest and prevailing weather conditions.

Congress MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan appeared on behalf of the petitioner. The High Court expressed its expectation that lawyers of Kuzhalnadan’s stature would present such petitions only after a thorough study of all relevant aspects.

The Travancore Devaswom Board had informed the High Court that the forest path could only be opened on November 17, adhering to the established schedule.
