Heavy Rains Expected in Kerala from Tomorrow: Yellow Alert Issued for Several Districts

Kerala is bracing for an increase in rainfall starting tomorrow, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a Yellow Alert for various districts for the next three days. The intensified rainfall is attributed to the influence of a low-pressure area and a cyclonic circulation. A coastal trough has also formed, extending from the North Kerala coast to the North Konkan coast.
The IMD forecasts isolated heavy rainfall from June 22 to June 25. Winds are also expected to strengthen, reaching speeds of up to 40-60 kilometers per hour. While no specific rain warnings have been issued for any district today, the central meteorological department predicts moderate rain and winds up to 40 km/hr in isolated areas of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts.
A strong low-pressure area persists over Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal, while another low-pressure system over Rajasthan has weakened into a cyclonic circulation. Westerly winds continue to be strong over Kerala. In this context, the central meteorological department indicates a likelihood of rain in Kerala for the next five days.
