Heavy Rain Continues in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh; Kerala Likely to Experience Thunderstorms and Strong Winds

Thiruvananthapuram: The ‘Ditwa’ cyclone, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, has weakened into a deep depression, the Meteorological Department announced. This deep depression is currently located in the Southwest Bay of Bengal, near the North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The Meteorological Department has announced that heavy rain is likely to continue today in various districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Very heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Tiruvallur, Ranipettai, Kancheepuram, Chennai, Chengalpattu, and Vellore. Additionally, strong rain is likely in isolated areas of Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram districts, and Puducherry. Strong winds, with speeds ranging from 60-70 kmph and occasionally reaching 80 kmph, are expected along the North Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and South Coastal Karaikal, according to the Meteorological Department.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has warned of thunderstorms and strong winds in Kerala today. No special rain warnings have been issued for any specific districts today. However, there is a possibility of light rain in all 14 districts. The Central Meteorological Department has announced the possibility of isolated light rain with thunderstorms and strong winds, reaching speeds of up to 40 kmph, in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram districts over the next 3 hours.
