Gas Leak Fire in Kannur; Four Migrant Workers Injured, Two Critical

Kannur: Four migrant workers sustained burn injuries in a gas leak fire that erupted in Pazhayangadi, Kannur. Two of the injured are reported to be in serious condition and are currently undergoing treatment.

The injured individuals have been identified as Shiva Bahra (35), Nigam Bahra (40), Subhash Bahra (50), and Jitu (28). All four are natives of Kurd, Odisha. They were immediately rushed to Pariyaram Government Medical College Hospital for medical attention.

The incident took place around 6:30 AM today at the migrant workers’ quarters located near Pazhayangadi Harbour. The fire broke out inside their room as they were attempting to prepare food.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by a gas leak, which occurred because the gas stove was not properly turned off the previous night. This oversight led to the accumulation of gas and the subsequent ignition.

The fire department promptly arrived at the scene and successfully brought the blaze under control. Local police have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances and causes of the accident.
