Former District Collector and PRD Director M. Nandakumar Passes Away

Thiruvananthapuram: M. Nandakumar (69), former District Collector and Director of the Public Relations Department (PRD), passed away. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital after falling into a coma due to complications from a brain hemorrhage surgery performed at another private hospital. He breathed his last at around 7:30 PM yesterday.
His mortal remains will be kept for public viewing at the Jawahar Nagar University Women’s Association Hall from 9:30 AM to noon today. Following this, the body will be taken to his residence. The funeral will be held at 5:00 PM at Thycaud Shanthi Kavadam.
Nandakumar was a distinguished orator, writer, and astrologer. He held a special expertise in numerology and also gained proficiency in palmistry after receiving ‘mantra deeksha’ from Mithran Namboothirippad.
Nandakumar began his official career as a correspondent for the Indian Express before joining as a Block Development Officer in 1993. He later secured IAS confirmation and served as the PRD Director. In 2011, he held the position of Thiruvananthapuram District Collector. His extensive career also included roles as Lottery Director, Collegiate Education Director, ADM, Kudumbashree Director, Civil Supplies Department Director, Sports and Youth Affairs Director, and State Land Use Board Commissioner.
He is survived by his wife, N.S. Sreelatha (Retired Registrar, Co-operative Department). His children are Vishnunandan (Engineer, Tata Consultancy, Bengaluru) and Parvathy Nandan (Kerala Gramin Bank). His son-in-law is Krishnanunni (First Class Judicial Magistrate, Adoor).
