Forest Minister Commends Efforts to Capture Man-Eating Tiger in Pancharakolly

Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran has praised the efforts of forest department officials who participated in the mission to locate the man-eating tiger in Pancharakolly. The minister lauded their dedication and remarked that residents could now sleep peacefully.
The minister stated that there are no plans to halt similar missions in the future. Special operations will be conducted in areas where the presence of tigers is reported, and necessary arrangements will be made soon. He also confirmed that searches will be carried out in all suspected locations, with the second phase of Operation Wayanad set to begin shortly.
The man-eating tiger was found dead a short while ago, with injuries on its body. Further clarity will be obtained only after the post-mortem, according to CCF officer K.S. Deepa. Preliminary assessments suggest that the tiger sustained deep wounds during a fight with another tiger.
The carcass was discovered near a house, raising questions about whether the conflict with another tiger occurred in the same area. Arun Zachariah, another official, indicated that the injuries appeared old, suggesting the tiger may have moved to this location after being wounded. Only after the post-mortem will the exact cause of death be confirmed.
The tiger, estimated to be around seven years old, was found dead under mysterious circumstances, Zachariah added.
