First-Grader Drowns While Playing at Kozhikode Tourist Center

Kozhikode: A six-year-old girl tragically drowned while playing in a river at a local tourist center in Kozhikode. The deceased has been identified as Abrara, daughter of Ahmed and Naseema, residents of Farook Chungam. The heartbreaking incident took place on Monday evening at approximately 3 PM at the Balussery Kariathumpara tourist center.

Abrara, a first-grade student at Farook Chandha LP School, had arrived at the Kariathumpara beach area with her relatives in a traveler vehicle. While her mother and other family members were having a meal on the riverbank, Abrara ventured into the water to play with other children.

The children were reportedly playing in a section of the river where the water level was only knee-deep. Despite the shallow water, Abrara unexpectedly submerged and drowned. She was immediately pulled out of the water by those present and administered first aid. Subsequently, she was rushed to a private hospital in Koorachundu, but unfortunately, medical efforts to save her life were unsuccessful.
