Final List of Beneficiaries for Mundakkai, Churalmala Landslide Rehabilitation Approved

Kalpetta: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has approved the final list of beneficiaries for the township being built in Kalpetta and Nedumbala for those affected by the Mundakkai and Churalmala landslides. The first phase of the list includes 242 people. 108 are beneficiaries from the Churalmala ward, 51 from the Attamala ward, and 83 from the Mundakkai ward. The Disaster Management Authority meeting held the other day approved the list.

Those who do not have a house anywhere else have been included in the first phase list. The second phase will include houses in the disaster area that have not been damaged, houses that can only be reached through the disaster area, and houses isolated by the disaster. District Collector Meghashree IAS, who is also the DDMA Chairperson, informed that complaints and objections regarding the final list can be submitted to the State Disaster Management Department.

The list of beneficiaries is available at the Collectorate, Mananthavady RDO Office, Vellarimala Village Office, Mepadi Grama Panchayat, and on the websites of the Local Self Government Department and the District Administration. Only those who do not have a habitable house anywhere else are eligible for rehabilitation. The Collector also informed that if they have a house elsewhere, compensation of Rs 4 lakh will be given for the damage to the houses as per the existing norms.
