‘Don’t think this fireball can be extinguished by pointing out mistakes’: Union Minister Suresh Gopi

Thrissur: Union Minister Suresh Gopi firmly declared that no one should entertain the thought of extinguishing this “fireball” by merely highlighting minor errors. The Union Minister made these remarks during the Kalunk Saugriha Sabha, an interactive gathering held at the Sreekumara Subramanya Temple grounds in Elthuruth, Kodungallur. His statement follows a recent controversy where he reportedly declined to accept a complaint from an individual named Kochuvelayudhan at a previous meeting in Pullil, an incident that garnered significant public attention.

Addressing the earlier controversy, Suresh Gopi expressed satisfaction that Kochuvelayudhan had received a house. He further indicated his intention to send more individuals like “Velayudhan Chettans” (a term implying common people seeking assistance) to the party, urging them to be prepared. The minister acknowledged that the current public gathering had caused some discomfort, reiterating his clear stance: “I will say what is not possible is not possible, and what is possible, is possible. If Bharatchandran has courage, I too will have courage and bravery. Cinema is a part of politics, and I am not going to step away from cinema,” he clarified, emphasizing his commitment to both his artistic and political endeavors.

In a pointed remark concerning the ongoing Karuvannur Cooperative Bank fraud, Suresh Gopi challenged the Chief Minister of Kerala to accept the depositors’ money if the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seizes the funds and deposits them back into the bank. This statement was made in response to a depositor’s query about the retrieval of their investments from the Karuvannur Bank, during a Kalunk Saugriha Sabha held in Porathissery Kandarathara, an area falling within the operational jurisdiction of the troubled bank.

Suresh Gopi further revealed that he had learned six months prior that the Cooperative Department had adopted a position against accepting the funds, even if the ED offered to return them. He concluded by asserting his resolve to ensure that the Enforcement Directorate would disclose the whereabouts of the money involved in the Karuvannur fraud case, underscoring his commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice for the affected depositors.
