Devaswom Board President K. Jayakumar Clarifies on Dual Post Allegations

Thiruvananthapuram: Devaswom Board President K. Jayakumar stated that he was appointed by the government and that the government would make an appropriate decision regarding the matter. He also added that he has not yet received any court notice regarding the dual post complaint.

A petition has been filed seeking to disqualify Travancore Devaswom Board President K. Jayakumar, citing a dual post. B. Ashok IAS filed the petition in the Thiruvananthapuram District Court. The petition alleges that K. Jayakumar’s appointment as the Travancore Devaswom Board President while holding a government position is against regulations. It is specifically alleged that his appointment as Board President while serving as the Director of IMG (Institute of Management in Government) is illegal.

In response to these allegations, the Devaswom Board President provided his clarification.

K. Jayakumar explained that he is currently performing a temporary duty as the Director at IMG. He expressed hope that a permanent appointment would be made to that position and that he would remain there until then. He further clarified that he is not drawing a salary as the Devaswom Board President.

“The petition is against the government’s decision. The government will respond appropriately. I am here based on a government order. I am only continuing at IMG temporarily. I am not drawing salaries from both places simultaneously. I am not taking a salary from the Devaswom Board. I am only continuing at IMG until someone else is appointed in my place. I do not believe there is anything illegal. The government has stated this, and the government will provide an appropriate response. I came here as per the government’s directive,” K. Jayakumar stated.
