Deputy Tahsildar Suspended for Casteist Abuse Against Ahmedabad Plane Crash Victim Ranjitha

Thiruvananthapuram: A Deputy Tahsildar has been suspended for making casteist remarks against Ranjitha, who tragically died in the Ahmedabad plane crash. The action has been taken against Pavithran, the Deputy Tahsildar of Vellarikkundu, Kasaragod. Pavithran insulted the deceased Ranjitha via a Facebook post.

Pavithran used inappropriate and offensive language to disgrace Ranjitha, a nurse, on social media. His derogatory comment was made under a condolence post for the victim. The abusive remarks sparked widespread protest. Reports indicate that the Chief Minister and other officials received numerous complaints, including online, against the Deputy Tahsildar.

Upon noticing the casteist abuse, Revenue Minister K. Rajan directed action, leading to District Collector Impasekharan issuing the order suspending Pavithran. It has been revealed that Pavithran had faced similar complaints of casteist abuse in the past. He was previously suspended last September for casteist remarks against former minister and MLA E. Chandrasekharan.
