Customs to Release Dulquer Salmaan’s Seized Luxury Car

Dulquer Salmaan’s luxury car, which was seized by customs as part of ‘Operation Numkhor’, is set to be released. The release will be facilitated upon submission of a bank guarantee. The High Court had previously directed customs authorities to make a decision regarding the matter.
Customs proceeded with the release following an interim order from the High Court, which instructed the release of Dulquer Salmaan’s Land Rover Defender. The vehicle was among three seized from the actor during ‘Operation Numkhor’. Salmaan had filed a petition with the High Court requesting the release of his Land Rover Defender.
The actor informed the court that all necessary documentation for the vehicle had been provided to the investigating officers during the inspection. Customs officials, however, indicated that certain conditions would be imposed for the release, as the vehicle remains under investigation. The decision to release the vehicle on a bank guarantee was made by the Additional Commissioner of Customs.
This incident is connected to recent flash raids conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at the residences of actors Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan, Prithviraj, and Amit Chakkalakkal. These raids were part of an investigation into a vehicle smuggling ring. The ED reported that the operation targeted a group involved in the illegal import and registration of luxury cars, such as Land Cruisers and Defenders, into India via Bhutan and Nepal. Raids specifically occurred at Mammootty’s former residence, ‘Mammootty House,’ and his current home in Kadavanthra, Kochi.
