CPM Leader P.K. Sreemathy Robbed on Train to Bihar

Thiruvananthapuram, December 24, 2025 – P.K. Sreemathy, a prominent CPM leader and former minister, has reported the theft of her bag containing a significant amount of cash, crucial documents, and jewelry while traveling by train. The incident occurred during her journey from Kolkata to Samastipur in Bihar, where she was headed to attend a women’s association conference.
According to Sreemathy, the theft is believed to have taken place around 4:00 AM on the train. The stolen bag contained Rs 40,000 in cash, her Aadhaar card, PAN card, other vital identification cards, personal jewelry, and a mobile phone. Fellow CPM leader Mariam Dawla was also accompanying Sreemathy on the journey.
Sreemathy had commenced her train journey from Kolkata at 8:00 PM the previous night. The train was scheduled to arrive at Samastipur by 7:00 AM. She discovered her bag missing at approximately 5:30 AM when the train pulled into Darshing Sarai station. She recounted that she had been sleeping on a lower berth, with her bag placed near her head and covered with a shawl.
Following the discovery of the theft, P.K. Sreemathy immediately alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF) police station and has also lodged a formal complaint with the Director General of Police (DGP) regarding the incident. Investigations into the matter are reportedly underway.
