CPI District Leader and Workers Join BJP in Malappuram

Malappuram: A prominent CPI district leader and several party workers in Wandoor have defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking a significant political shift in the region.
P. Arun, who previously contested as the Left Front candidate in Ward No. 18 of Wandoor Panchayat during the local self-government elections, is among the key figures who joined the BJP. His defection is particularly notable as he resigned from multiple influential positions within the CPI, including District Committee member, AIYF District Vice President, AITUC District Committee member, and Wandoor Mandal Secretary.
In addition to P. Arun, active CPI workers Mukesh Vettummal and Aswathy V.B. also officially joined the BJP. The induction ceremony, which garnered considerable political attention, took place at the BJP’s Malappuram East District Committee office.
The new members were warmly welcomed by BJP District President P.R. Reshmil Nath, who honored them with a shawl and sweets. The event saw the presence of several senior BJP leaders, including District General Secretary Shinoj Panicker, State Committee Member K.C. Velayudhan, District Secretary K. Sunil Bose, District Media Convener Girish Paikadan, District Treasurer P.G. Udayabhanu, BJP Wandoor Mandal General Secretary E.M. Balakrishnan, and Wandoor Area President K. Balakrishnan. These leaders addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of the new joinings for the party’s growth in the Malappuram district.
