Councilor R. Sreelekha Clarifies MLA Office Dispute, Accuses MLA V.K. Prasanth of Rude Response

Thiruvananthapuram: Councilor R. Sreelekha has provided a clarification regarding the ongoing dispute over the MLA’s office. Sreelekha stated that she had approached MLA V.K. Prasanth with a request to vacate the office, treating him like a brother. However, she alleged that he responded with a challenge, essentially daring her to evict him if she could. The councilor’s remarks came after a direct meeting with the MLA.

Sreelekha elaborated that she considers V.K. Prasanth to be like a brother, and her request stemmed from the inconvenience she faced as a councilor in finding a suitable space to meet constituents. She explained that the room currently occupied by the MLA, which was previously used by the former councilor, is entirely unsuitable for her work. She further highlighted that the MLA’s office is operating in a building owned by the corporation, a courtesy extended by the previous administrative body. When the MLA indicated he could not move until after the elections, Sreelekha recounted that she humbly pleaded with him to make arrangements for a gradual relocation of the office, emphasizing her need for a functional space for her five-year tenure.

Sreelekha accused the MLA of reacting poorly to her request, suggesting that his phone records would corroborate her account. She also pointed out that V.K. Prasanth, with his MLA quarters located nearby, has the flexibility to find an office anywhere, a convenience not afforded to her as a councilor. In light of her rejected request, Sreelekha announced that she would consult with the party leadership and the mayor to determine the next course of action.
